ACCIONA seeks to enhance the transformative effect of its projects, maximizing their impact in terms of local repercussion, return on investment and acceleration of sustainable development.

To this end, it seeks to develop analysis and diagnostic tools to identify regenerative opportunities and design solutions that contribute to improving the living conditions of the population and/or the environment near the company's work.

The company aspires to show the sustainable difference of each activity it carries out. The company’s different areas work together to design and provide infrastructure solutions that maximize and significantly promote the achievement of the SDGs.

2022 Highlights

  • Drawing up a Regenerative Playbook (manual) to standardize the process of developing regenerative differences in all the company's actions.
  • Closing of the MacIntyre financing for more than €1,000 M. Two "green" and one "Sustainability Linked" financing instrument were combined to contribute to a single local impact objective.
  • Entry in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, an index made up of world leaders in sustainability.
  • 24% increase in the number of projects with Social Impact Management.

  • Promoting the contents of the Regenerative Playbook with the aim of raising awareness and educating on the company's values.
  • Launching a new Financing Framework that points out the value of ACCIONA's "impact" approach.
  • Approving the Stakeholder Relationship Policy.

Sustainable difference in each project

The development of infrastructures is directly or indirectly linked to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. To enhance the transformative effect of its projects, ACCIONA has designed the High Impact Solutions, an approach that helps to channel the necessary investment into projects that promote the global sustainable agenda.

ACCIONA evaluates the potential of including this kind of solution in a project and carries out a diagnosis of socioenvironmental gaps in the perimeter close to the project with the aim of defining solutions that generate a positive impact.

The concession for Line 6 of the São Paulo metro is the largest public-private infrastructure project under development in Latin America and the largest project in ACCIONA's history.

Local ecosystems

Our goal is to develop an organizational ecosystem that can increase the potential for regenerative transformation.

Conversations will be held with third parties to set up work programs, initiatives and collaboration projects that will multiply the company’s capacity to develop regenerative solutions, with the aim of accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Stages of the GIS methodology and Implementation Status

Social initiative at WWTP Pachacutec, Peru

In 2022, as a result of the implementation of the Social Impact Management methodology, the project launched the initiative “Yo te limpio Pachacútec porque te quiero y por el medio ambiente” [“I clean you, Pachacútec, because I love you and for the environment”], given the presence of solid waste on public roads that favored the proliferation of vectors, unpleasant odors and contamination of water, soil and air in the project’s area of influence.

For this reason, ACCIONA promotes innovative sustainable financing solutions that provide its projects and facilities with distinctive and clearly beneficial features, while taking advantage of the interest of the capital markets in financing the gaps in the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals.

ACCIONA promotes the adoption of ambitious global objectives for the decarbonization of the economy.

So that its model includes the management of climate change risks and opportunities, in accordance with the European Commission's climate information reporting guide and the recommendations of the Financial Stability Board, through its Working Group on Climate-Related Financial Information Disclosure (TCFD).
