ACCIONA has more than 150 years of experience in the construction of transport infrastructure.

To date, the group has been involved in the design and execution of more than 6,000 km of roads, 600 major bridges, 150 tunnels, 3,000 km of high-speed railway lines and 1,300 km of metro lines.

2022 was historic in terms of infrastructure contract awards, with a total of more than 9.1 billion euros, which means that the project portfolio at the close of 2022 exceeded 22 billion euros.

The company is involved in all the stages of highway construction projects, using big data to digitalize the design, construction, and operation of its transportation infrastructure to reduce execution times and costs.

When designing and building its highways, ACCIONA prioritizes the protection of the environment and local communities, encouraging the reuse of materials and implementing innovative techniques to achieve its sustainability goals, such as the deployment of construction methods that promote the circular economy.

  • ACCIONA has been awarded: 2nd contract for 226 million euros for the construction of 12.5 kilometers of the S19 highway in Poland.

Bridges

ACCIONA builds bridges equipped against climate change, exploring innovative engineering solutions for all kinds of mountain conditions. Bridges cross rivers, drive opportunities, and bring lives closer together.

  • Inauguration of the Cebu cable-stayed bridge in the Philippines, winner of the Premio Obras CEMEX 2022 for creativity and innovation in the use of concrete.

Tunnels

ACCIONA designs and builds tunnels to help improve connections between people and provides innovative solutions to infrastructure challenges in urban and natural environments. The company is a global benchmark in tunnels and machinery, with tunnel boring machines that have broken several world records.

ACCIONA also has also designed and licensed a laser-guided solution for tunnel construction without heavy machinery, which increases drilling accuracy by more than 60% and has led to saving 30 MWh of energy.

  • Apart from winning the landmark contract for the Sydney Western Harbour tunnel, ACCIONA is still working on the construction of the 413-million-euro WestConnex tunnel in Australia.

Railways and railroad services

Railway mobility is essential to support the decarbonization of transport and our cities. With a century of experience in the field, ACCIONA works in favor of a deep change in our society through railway solutions and services. ACCIONA's strategy in the execution of railway projects and provision of railroad services is based on efficiency, speed, and sustainability.

  • ACCIONA continues to work on the Sydney Metro West line (Australia) for a total value of 1,205 million euros.

Metros and trams

With its metro and light rail projects, ACCIONA has participated in the sustainable transformation of large cities around the world with low-carbon and inclusive transport. The company has led the development of subway metro networks in Spain and Latin America.

ACCIONA uses its own tunnel boring machines and generates digital models during the construction stage that enable intelligent prototyping to optimize the works.

  • ACCIONA is making progress with works on São Paulo's metro line 6, in Brazil, the largest public-private infrastructure collaboration project in Latin America.

Hydro and port engineering

ACCIONA has designed and built more than 50 ports around the world, essential infrastructure for international trade in goods and passengers. The company promotes the adaptation of these facilities to the era of low-carbon activities.

ACCIONA has participated in the design and construction of more than 40 airport projects and is one of the world's leading providers of airport services, offering handling, cleaning, maintenance, ambulance operation and reduced mobility assistance services. ACCIONA has implemented the latest technologies in airport and aeronautical assistance, which enable process control and increase productivity.

  • In 2022, ACCIONA was awarded the contract to remodel the Palma de Mallorca airport. The contract, worth 200 million euros, includes key works to expand and improve the airport 25 years after its inauguration.

E6 Ranheim-Værnes

Norway

The recent awarding of the E6 Ranheim-Værnes highway strengthens ACCIONA's presence in Norway. ACCIONA is currently working on the design and construction of the 18.5 km twin tunnels of the Follo Line Project, which once completed will be the longest railway tunnels in Scandinavia.

Cebu cable-stayed bridge

Philippines

The Cebu Bridge has not only become an additional bridge to link mainland Cebu to Mactan Island, but is also an iconic landmark in the region. The construction of this new bridge will bring many benefits to traffic management in the area, alleviating the current traffic jams on the existing bridges.

São Paulo metro line 6

Brazil

The Orange Line is the largest public-private infrastructure project under development in Latin America and the largest infrastructure project in ACCIONA's history. It will connect the center of the capital with its northwest end and will cross several neighborhoods where the city's main universities are located.
